    A cow, the property of Mr. D. A. Skene, dairyman, of Manly, died last week. A post-mortem examination revealed the fact that the animal had been addicted to picking up hard shining substances, a habit common among milch cattle. The intestines contained 14 nails, 16 stones, a screw nail, 3 pieces of thin wire, a hairpin, a safety pin. a river, a leaden nail head, 3 pieces of hoopiron, a piece of strong wire, and a penny (1901 coinage). In the photograph the penny is reduced to about half size, which gauges the bulk of the collection made by the cow. The safety pin and one of the nails perforated the intestines and caused ...
