    THE eyes of the civilised world have for some time been focussed on South Africa. That unhappy country is in the throes of an industrial disturbance, which has already had serious results, and which has threatened to develop into civil war. The present trouble is really a continuation of the mining strike which occurred some months ago, when blood was freely shed during street riots, and our pictures of incidents during that trying period might well stand for illustrations of events during the past couple of weeks.
