  2. WOOL ON THE DARLING.

    THIS spot, which is between Pconcarie and Avoca, is known as Seward's Cutting. The river twists amazingly in its course, and, to make matters worse, the stream is both narrow and shallow. The wool barges are accordingly allowed to drift through. Ropes are used to keep them in the channel. Men work from the embankment, and become very expert. The steamer then goes to the head of affairs again (she is behind the barges as they drift in the picture.) ... [ILLUSTRATED]
