    1. In yesterday's chilly weather about the only people able to keep warm were the players. Picture shows an incident in the game in which Lakes defeated North by 22-12. 2. It was also bitterly cold at the Newcastle holiday race meeting, where Mrs. F. Clement, Mrs. V. Swadling and Miss W. Holman are watching the horses parade in the saddling paddock. 3. Studying the race book at Newcastle, Lorna Handcock and Pam Edden could still smile despite the cold. 4. Mr. C. McNeill attempted to keep himself warm at the Sports Ground League match sitting over a fire he built in an oil drum. 5. Miss I. Ayres studying her race book at Newcastle. 6.
