Brian Smith, a leading cross-country jockey, falls with his mount, Masher, in a spectacular crash at the first jump in the Gordon Steeplechase at Caulfield on Saturday. He received severe head injuries and was quickly rushed to the Alfred Hospital. The grey Sea Legend is shown galloping past the fallen horse and jockey.
