    Rivers had to be frequently crossed by C. N. King, American business man, on his recent trip across equatorial Africa from Nairobi to Kano in a stock model special delivery international motor truck, a trip that Mr King was frequently told by colonial officials was impossible. River crossings had to be made on primitive canoe rafts. In one of these it was necessary to buoy up an almost useless native raft with corn stalks.
