    The Northern District Railway Ambulance competitions were conducted yesterday near the Cardiff workshops. The photograph on the left shows the six teams at work in the virgin bush—typical of the country where first aid is frequently called for, without the facilities of the big city. The top picture on the night shows one of the judges, Mr. J. J. Collins, examining a stretcher just completed by the Cardiff Workshops team (runner-up). The lower picture shows a member of the Zara-street Power-house team (the winner) being divested of his waistcoat in order that it might be used as a bandage—an evidence of resourcefulness in first aid work. ...
