  3. Bringing the force with him, against arthritis

    English actor David Prowse, perhaps best known for his daunting role as Darth Vader in the Star Wars is helped up in Canberra yesterday by Tully Jagoe, 4, of Spence, in Civic yesterday. Prowse has set himself the task of raising $10 million over five years for research into arthritis. He has been to Australia twice before, in 1962 to represent England in heavyweight weight-lifting at the Perth Commonwealth Games. His film and television career, which include roles from the James Bond Casino Royale to Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange has been stalled by severe arthritis, a result of a weight-training injury.
