  4. CIVIL DEFENCE HOUSE DESTROYED IN NEVADA TEST OF ATOMIC DEVICE

    These pictures, released in New York yesterday by the Atomic Energy Commission, show the effect of blast on a civil defence test house in last Tuesday's atomic explosion in the Nevada desert. They were selected from a series of 56 photographs taken with an automatic Mitchell 35mm. motion picture camera protected by a two-inch lead sheath. The camera was located only 60 feet from the doomed house, which was about two-thirds of a mile from the blast centre. (Radio-pictures.) ... [ILLUSTRATED]
