    Our artist here has reconstructed a scene that took place during the days when the Germans were endeavouring to make good their previously lost ground and re-cross Aisne. The attempt, as all the world now knows was frustrated, and a battle of weeks took place on the furthest side from Paris, ending at last in the still further pupil back of the invaders. The picture shows one of the repeated efforts of the Germans to build a pontoon bridge at one point of the river. The British artillery, however the other bank of the river got the range, and shed the bridge as soon as it was completed. No less than ten times did the Germans re-build the structure, ...
