  3. Swansea Foreshores Undermined by Erosion

    These photographs illustrate the serious extent of the erosion of the fore shore Lake Macquarie at Swansea. The first picture, taken from the bridge, shows the corner of High and Channel Streets, where the old retaining wall was in a straight line along the outer edge of stones. The top right picture shows the erosion in front of Swansea School. In the lower left picture the embankment to the north of the school is seen to be collapsing, and the right hand picture shows portion of Channel-street where the road has had to be closed.
