Flanagan, a striker, in self-defence. (1) Is a snapshot of Wearne (on the left); (2) shows Flanagan's brother with the family's solicitor, Mr C. H. Penny; (3) shows Thorpe, another volunteer, who was with Wearne at the time of the shooting (on the right). The picture at the bottom shows a group of Sydney detectives who have done very valuable work in connection with the I.W.W. and other cases.
