  2. IN THE AIR AND ON THE GROUND

    These recent happenings in the world of aerounautics give some indication of the progress being made in this field of transport. In the top left picture, an EAF student pilot is blindfolded for a familiarisation test in the cockpit of a jet trainer plane; centre, a form ation of Hawker Hunter jets in a vertical dive during a aerial display in England; top right, the Queen Mother stepping from a helicopter before a tour of inspection at an RA F station. The bottom left picture shows a special Canberra bomber being used by the RAF to test the possibilities of aircraft control with the pilot in the prone position in the front cockpit, and the last picture shows one of the eight Super Constellations which ...
