  3. FIRST FLYING BOAT ON THAMES FOR 21 YEARS

    City workers gazed out of windows towards the sky recently as a giant flying boat—a 35-ton Short Solent BOAC machine—circled around in preparation for a landing on the Thames, near Tower Bridge. This is the first flying boat to alight on the river for 21 years; it is open for a week to inspection by the public.
