  3. HARVESTING BROOM MILLET AT RIDGELANDS

    Mr E. Stock, Ridgelands farmer, this week commenced harvesting 20 acres of broom millet. These pictures show three stages (from left)—(1) Knocking down the crop with a tractor. (2) The slow work of hand-cutting the heads. (3) Baling the crop. Broom millet is worth about £80 a ton. Mr Stock expects his crop to yield one ton to three acres. ... [ILLUSTRATED]
