  4. SUGAR FOR BRITAIN: FIRST BULK LOADING AT PORT INTO ARTEMISIA

    GOOD PROGRESS is being made in loading sugar into five holds of the overseas vessel Artemisia at Townsville. This is the first occasion that bulk loading has taken piece at this port, the sugar being sent from the mills which use Townsville for clearance, being Kalamia, Pioneer, invicta and Tully. First picture shows the bags of sugar, after being delivered in 12-bag slings on top of the hatch, being cut open and the contents being spilled on to a two-inch screen, from which it drops to the hold.
