F. Bickersteth conducted the service, made the more impressive by the singing of St. Peter's Cathedral and College choirs, after which massed buglers sounded the Last Post. The Governor, accompanied by Lady Hore-Ruthven, and leading military officials stood at the base of the Cross during the ceremony at the conclusion of which hundreds of relatives placed their floral offerings on the memorial. ...
