So fierce was the downpour that many box gutters and drain pipes were blocked by the hail, and water poured inside premises. The picture shows: (1) Thick banks of hail on North terrace.. (2) A solitary car battling through the storm in King William street. (3) Porters sweeping away water which poured from the blocked gutters.
