  3. Pilots And Their Planes In Big East-West Air Race

    THE BIGGEST AIR RACE ever held in Australia started yesterday, when 17 contesting planes left Sydney on the first stage—to Melbourne. The machines are expected to reach Adelaide this afternoon, and will leave again tomorrow morning on the flight to Perth. Some of the competitors and the machines they are piloting: (1) Major H. De Havilland, in charge of a D.H. Gipsy moth. (2) His plane. (3) The W.A. Airways D.H. 50 machine being piloted by Pilot B. Heath. (4) Mr. Lee Murray (Victoria section Australian Aero Club).
