  3. BUSH FIRES SPREAD DESOLATION AND SORROW

    BUSH FIRES WIPED OUT THE TOWNSHIP OF GILDEROY YESTERDAY, leaving a desolate waste where formerly there were an unmarried engine driver, aged 50, who remained at Feiglan's Mill in an attempt to save it, lost his life. In one of the few houses left, 30 homeless men, women and children are being sheltered. Pictures show: 1. Mrs. J. Bramley with one of her children. She was burned about the hands in rescuing her family at Worlley's Mill. 2. A group of destitute children at Gilderoy. Some of them are suffering from burns. 3. The debris of Mr. T. Davis's home.
