    THIS PASSENGER HAD TO CLIMB JACOB’S LADDER to catch the Esperance Bay as she left Prince’s Pier, Port Melbourne, yesterday. He dashed along the wharf after the gangways had been cast off, and thrilled passengers and their friends on the pier by leaping across the widening gulf between the ship’s side and the timber piling.
