Their overtures were a novelty, for hitherto he had been able to coax the graceful birds only to the water's edge. There is a touch of experiment in the way he is holding out the til-bit—the angle compels the swan to employ the full length of its neck, "I took the bend out of it." he probably told his mates when proudly recounting the story. ...
