Only about 50 managed to force their way into the building past two policemen (6), who tried to check them. While reinforcements were being rushed from Russell-street, the Chief Clerk (Mr. Wickham) reasoned with the men. Frustrated in their attempt to see the Premier, the men then joined the main body and marched away.
