    An exciting and important match drew a big attendance to the Melbourne ground on Saturday. Geelong, which h ad cherished hopes of the premiership, sent up a team individually strong, but collectively weakened by internal complications, to meet Fitzroy in the firs t semi-final match. Greeves and Haggar were conspicuous by their fine play, and at the start the visitors gave promise of dashing play, but the heavier met tie of Fitzroy wore them down, and at the end of each quarter the score mounted up in favor of Fitzroy.
