Advertising : 1 wordsSpeetators at Caulfield on Saturday had not only the pleasure of seeing splendid fields, but in each event the finish was exciting and close. The day was one of blazing heat in harmony with the touch of blazing fire which reduced the members stand to ashes a few hours before. The summer weather brought out sunshades and large hats, and made conditions for racing. The attendance was un comfortably large, and there was evidence of prosperity all around. Frocks in general kept to the quieter colourings, but fancy ran rolt in the matter of hats and sun sheas, which vied in brilliancy the racecourse surroundings under the bright sunshine. Feathers were largely used and in mealy every case they matched the that in colour. Duller-surfaced silk fabrics were more favoured than satins, and some of the tolletters displayed the cape effect in some way. ... [ILLUSTRATED]
