  4. WHEN THE HORN OF THE HUNTER IS HEARD ON T HE HILLS.

    The opening meet of the Melbourne Hounds took place at Clyde on Tuesday, June 6. It was a dull and rainy morning, but the assemblage was good. Among those hunting was the Master of the Melbourne Hunt Club, Mr. A.J. Creswick the Master of the Yarra Glen and Lilydale Club, Dr. A. E. Byine, and the Master of the Oaklands Club, Mr. W. C. Knight. The “gone away” and the horn set the pack in full cry after reynard, but the first fox went to earth in a rabbit [?] and the second disappeared in increasible ti-tree.     The ground game on Saturday saw Melbourne attacks Essendon on the latter’s home ground. but from the start the visitors had the worst of the luck. As play warmed up. Melbourne’s recovered some of its lost ground, but in the final Essendon came with a great rush and carried the score to 12.21, as against Melbourne’s 5.12 Essendon is the only unbeaten team in League circles. ...
