THERE are but few Volunteer Corps in the Victorian Defence Force, but one of the best known in country districts is the Rangers. The corps was first established in 1888, and was known as the Rifle Volunteers. This corps was commanded by Colonel Tom Price, of Mounted Rifle fame, who held the position for one year, and then handed it over to Colonel Otter, when the name was altered to Victorian Rangers.
