    The inadequacy of the area resumed by the Crown. consisting of a narrow strip len[?] the cliff of a few feet in depth, has made this farcical resumption the derision of all who are interested in the preservation of the beautiful foreshore for the people. Notwithstanding public protest, no [?] has been taken by the Crown to resume additional area required back to the road. When the resumed area was gazetted it included a narrow strip from the obelisk to the refreshment rooms, but this was subsequently handed back to the owners, who had asked a high price, as the Crown apparently did not care to contest the value in court. As a result of this want of foresight, there is the landing-place reserved for boats at low tide. Three houses have been built, and drainage from two of them is affecting the narrow resumed area, while the fences of a third house, although the owner's title is only to high water mark, have been erected right down to low, water mark, thus cutting off access round the rocks. Parsley Bay Beach is the safest beach in Sydney Harbor for bathing, and it is a scandal that its resumption has been managed in such a slipshod manner. The ferry ... [ILLUSTRATED]
