    INCREASING SYDNEY'S WATER SUPPLY. 'A' notable engineering feat was performed by the Water and Sewerage Board employees on Saturday, under Mr. J. M. Small, engineer-in-chief, and Foreman Petersen. The work of connecting the 48-Inch main leading to the Crown-street reservoir with the new booster pumping plant at Potts Hill was commenced shortly after 11 a.m., and at 6.15 p.m. Inspector Brett sent the first water to the city. It was a particularly expeditious job, seeing that a 48-inch pipe of 34in. steel, had to be cut in two places, a piece lifted out, a new collar piece inserted, and joined up to the two pipes which in the picture are shown leading from the ...
