  5. A FAMOUS BRITISH REGIMENT

    The Loyal Regiment (North Lancashire) was raised in 1740 as the 4th Foot, but received its present name when merged with the Loyal Lincoln Volunteers in 1793. Famous historically, one of its early actions was under General Wolfe at Quebec in 1759. The motto of the regiment is "Loyaute M'Abige" ("Duty Binds Me").
