  2. REVERENCE AND SOLEMN DIGNITY THE KEYNOTE OF ANZAC DAY MARCH:

    The 32nd anniversary of the landing on Gallipoli was observed on Friday by 15,000 ex-servicemen and women, and 125,000 spectators in an unmistakable atmosphere of solemn devotion and deep reverence in memory of the men who laid the foundations of Australia's military history 32 years ago. In addition to the 15,000 Australians in the parade, there were representatives of Canada, New Zealand and Greece. The men marched twelve abreast in a procession that traversed King William Street, Rundle and Charles Streets and back to King William Street by way of North Terrace, passing National War Memorial and along King William Road to the Cross of Sacrifice in Pennington Gardens. His Excellency the Governor (Sir Willoughby Norrie) took the salute at Victoria Drive. The precession took 75 minutes to pass the saluting point. ... [ILLUSTRATED]
