A STRIKING CONTRAST IN MOODS is provided in these 2 photographs taken at the scene of last Friday's bush fires at Beaumaris. The picture at the left (showing young David Moorhead ga[?]ng sadly on the remains of his charred and crumpled bicycle) so appealed to the sympathies of a US Army officer in Melbourne that he bought David another bikeāand at right David is see all smiles when his brand new machine was delivered to him yesterday by a representative of "The Argus" on behalf of his benefactor, who wished to remain anonymous. The only thanks the American officer asked for was that he could see a picture of "the grin on that kid's face" when he received his gift. Something like this, perhaps? ... [ILLUSTRATED]
