  3. An Incident In the Blue Metal Trade.

    An extraordinary accident happened recently in Kiama. A horse, drawing a dray, loaded with blue metal, was being taken to the wharf, where the metal is shot into the steamers, which carry it to Sydney. The horse was left standing at the approach to the wharf, with the cart backed up nearly to the edge of a preolploe 20 feet deep. The druver returned shortly afterwards, and took hold of the horse's head to lead him on to the wharf. The patient animal had evidonely gone to sleep, and, being suddenly awakened, and, furthermore, being totally blind, he fancied that he was at the end of the wharf. He accordingly ... [ILLUSTRATED]
