Within the last 25 years (since Broken Hill was started) about forty thousand people have settled on the North Shore. The proposed tunnel or bridge, or both, will cross the harbor near the left side of the picture. At present the traffic is carried by ferry boats which will hold up to 2000 passengers. Several of these boats may be seen in the picture. At night the ferry boats are brilliantly lighted from stem to stern, and with the lights reflected in the water they form a gorgeous sight. The feature of this picture is that it is taken with the new Telephoto Camera, which was described in "The Miner" a few weeks ago. This camera enables remarkably distinct photographs to be taken of objects at a considerable distance, and opens up the prospect of further great advances in photography. The nearest buildings on the further side of the water are over a mile from the camera. ... [ILLUSTRATED]
