  2. FIRST AIR-MAIL PICTURES OF JUBILEE SERVICE IN ST. PAUL'S

    WITHIN A MATTER OF HOURS after the Jubilee thanksgiving service in St. Paul's Cathedral, the wonders of science enabled "The Mercury" to present to its readers a radio picturegram of an incident in the triumphal progress of Their Majesties through cheering throngs in the streets of London. "The Mercury" now publishes official photographs of the occasion, received by air-mail. The photograph at the top-left shows Their Majesties as they were passing Australia House on their way to the historic service. In the picture at the top-right the King and Queen are seen during the service, kneeling before the table on which rests the Pearl Sword of the City of London. In the procession into the cathedral the Lord Mayor (Sir Stephen Killik) carried the sword before Their Majesties. The photographs at the ... [ILLUSTRATED]
