  5. THE LATE MR. HUTCHINGS AND MRS. HUTCHINGS.

    Mr. William Hutchings, of Rose Hill farm, Chatsbury, in the Taralga district, died recently, aged 100 years. He was the first selector in the district under the Robertson Land Act, and had lived on his farm ever since. His was an uneventful career. Of quiet disposition, he paid strict attention to his own affairs, and was consequently much respected throughout the district. He was practically a teetotaller, never taking stimulants unless when ill. His memory was a very good one, and he distinctly remembered the rejoicings over the battle of Waterloo.
