    A Crow having secured some Food, perched in a tree, and held it in her Heak, A Fox, seeing her, tried by a [?] strat[?] to get possession of the Food. First he tried to Flatter the Bird, but this failing he endeavoured to Frighten her. "Sweet Bird," be exclaimed, "the Anti-Socialist Hawks are hovering near us. Drop the Food, and I will protect it for you from the Birds of Prey." But the Crow remembered the story handed down in her family, how in the time of Aesop a Fox had Flattered and Deceived an Ancestor of hers, held Fast to the Food.
