The ceremony of switching on two floodlights was performed by the Governor (Sir Alexander Hore-Ruthven) last night, after a short service, when this striking picture was taken. Many representative citizens were present at the unique ceremony. Inset is the Governor in the act of switching on the lights, and with him is Mr. Abe Shannon, who made a donation sufficient for the installation of one light and the coat of maintenance for ...
