    The centre picture shows the Tambookie Thorn, a native of South Africa, which is one of the most conspicuous flowering shrubs in the Botanic Gardens at the present moment. The plant has a curiously straggling form, and bears large clusters of pea-shaped flowers of crimson, tipped with gold. The other two pictures show the, exterior and the interior of the botanical classification (or system) pavilion, which, having got badly out of repair, has been closed to the public. Weeds are firmly established in the cracks of the asphalt paths, and also in the disused strips of garden formerly devoted to plants in their botanical orders.
