Summary
  • The 1994 summer holiday season began very well, with high early bookings in Aug and Sep 1993. However, it is now estimated that 2 million holidays are still unsold, and yield on sales already made is lower than in 1993. The travel industry must now sell the remaining stock of holidays, but must avoid being tempted to cut prices too soon. Foreign travel is being badly affected by good weather in the UK, fears of terrorist attacks abroad and a wide range of sport to watch on television in the UK.
