Summary
  • IBM Canada Ltd introduces the $3,350 VisualAge application development software for OS/2, the first object-oriented programming software that allows programmers to develop entire applications by connecting prefabricated software components or reusable icons. VisualAge is targeted at developing client/server, mission-critical applications using visual programming. Programmers will be able to develop applications with sophisticated functions using only minimal coding by building a user interface and customizing generic parts. IBM is also releasing VisualAge Team for multiple developers which supports team programming. Library services in VisualAge include versioning and release control, which gives users complete library code management. The database components in VisualAge are compatible with both IBM and non-IBM databases the GUI capability includes support for Common User Access interface controls.
