Summary
  • Computer vendors voice a number of complaints about retailers. Vendors say that training salespeople costs too much when turnover rates exceed 50 percent in half a year. They also fret about the number of retailers that fail to participate in their programs and are unsure if retailers are using promotional money properly. Retailers should provide vendors with accurate employee-turnover rates, provide names and addresses of employees, and schedule training sessions with an eye toward saving the vendor money. In the realm of promotional money, retailers are advised to send vendors photographs of special store displays and promotional materials and offer copies of ads or electronic traffic reports. It is also a good idea to invite early vendor involvement in promotional efforts and keep vendors well-informed on short- and long-term merchandising strategies.
