Summary
  • Sharp Electronics' Expert Pad PI-7000 personal digital assistant (PDA) includes many useful features, but still lacks the networking capabilities that could make it a truly powerful business or personal computing tool. Expert Pad PI-7000 includes three main applications consisting of a notebook, calendar/to do list and name files. An extremely useful Assistant utility enables users to dial telephone numbers and fax documents. Expert Pad PI-7000 uses licensed Apple Newton PDA technology and strongly resembles its Apple counterpart. Like the Apple Newton, Expert Pad uses pen-based input. The Sharp product, however, also allows users to input data via an onscreen keyboard. The keyboard is especially handy because Expert Pad's writing surface is too narrow and accommodates only five or six words per line and the rectangular-shaped pen is difficult to use.
