Summary
  • Uniface 5.2 is a $4,500 program development software package from Uniface Corp that uses a fourth-generation programming language environment to aid programmers in developing interactive applications. Users can purchase an optional module that allows them to develop applications that provide interactive forms under Microsoft Windows, Motif, Open Look, or Presentation Manager; access one or multiple databases; and run on a wide range of systems. There are difficulties installing Uniface 5.2, but a call to technical support will help in a successful installation. Uniface was originally developed on the VAX platform and as a result, many of the commands are non-standard for Microsoft Windows users. The package allows many commands to be executed via the keyboard. Overall, Uniface 5.2 is a sophisticated programming tool that provides users with enough functionality to justify its high price tag.
