The ability of daisywheel printers to print full-formed characters at a reasonable cost and the comfortable familiarity of their printing process are the reasons for their market durability, but daisywheel printers are unable to print decent graphics. Printers included in the directory range from $178 to $28,00 and include models which use a character "cup" or are dual dot-matrix-daisywheel units. Factors to review in selecting a daisywheel printer include: speed, preferably measured by the Shannon rating; type of wheels used and variety; compatibility with the Diablo 630 standard; buffer size, commonly 2K to 14K; whether the ports are serial or parallel; carriage width; noise level; and ribbons used.
