Summary
  • The needs of three lawyers trying to automate their offices are discussed. William J. Bonner of Hagans, Brown, Gibbs and Moran in Anchorage, AK, tried to automate the law firm's time accounting using its three IBM PC XTs, one PC AT clone, and one Compaq XT with an IBM 3812 laser printer. Problems were encountered, but with the help of a local consultant disaster was averted. The firm has returned to the use of paper timeslips, but it hopes to try to automate again in the near future. Blu Sanders, a lawyer in El Paso, TX, is looking for ideas on how he can convert from his Multiplan data from his Tandy 6000 Xenix-based computer to an MSDOS-based PC AT clone. Brook Boswell at Cooper Industries hopes readers can help him find software intended specifically for corporate legal departments.
