Summary
  • A software and circuit board package allows PCs to send and receive fax transmissions. Microcomputer faxes require ASCII files or an image scan using image scanning hardware. A special fax modem transmits these 'images' over telephone lines. Data can be received and sent from a true Group III fax-compatible machine, of which a reported half million exist. Conversion of text image into true text (optical character recognition) can be into a word processing file that will produce a quality printout, unlike regular fax to fax transmissions.
