Summary
  • Many former AT & T Bell Lab employees have become entrepreneurs starting their own companies. Silicon Design Lab (SDL), was founded by four former Bell Lab researchers. Their goal is to automate every stage of circuit design. Gain Electronics, founded by Raymond Dingle, holds a patent license agreement with AT & T covering all GaAs and lightwave-device technology. Spectran, founded by Raymond Jaeger, works in the fiber optics field. Lytel, founded by Eugene Gordon, is a maker of semiconductor fiber optics components. Norman Shumaker is founder of Emcore, a company that builds metal-organic vapor deposition systems. These are a few of the researchers from Bell Labs turned entrepreneurs. The company itself recognizes the advantages of entrepreneurial efforts in transferring new technologies rapidly to the market.
