Stan Tutt, President of the Landsborough Shire Historical Museum, presenting Alderman Selwyn H. Carbery of Caloundra City Council, with a gift in appreciation for the work Selwyn undertook for the Museum since its inception and during the building of the extensions. The celebrations also marked the Australia Day Award presentations for Caloundra City and the official opening of the new section of The Shire of Landsborough Historical Museum, which later changed its name to the Landsborough Historical Museum. Selwyn Carbery was a long-time advocate of the museum and represented Division One within Landsborough Shire, then Caloundra City. A time capsule was buried during the ceremonies by Bernie Barton, President of the Landsborough Progress Association near the museum flagpole, which took place on 26 January 1988. Recipients of the Caloundra City Australia Day Awards presented that day included: Citizen Award, Mrs Ivy Johnson of Palmer Avenue Golden Beach; Young Citizen Award, Mathew Howard of 'Bonnie View' M/S 16 Maleny; Sports medallion, Chris Hemming of Packenham Street Aroona; Sports medallion (Coaches, Officials) Robert Mitchell of Balemo Street, Cooinda Heights.
