Notes
  • The Brisbane Arts Theatre [dramatic society] was founded in 1936 by Jean Trundle and Vic Hardgraves as Brisbane Amateur Theatres, it was renamed Brisbane Arts Theatre in 1947. They were located in several venues: 1930 - 1940s All Saint's Hall, Princess Theatre, Theatre Royal. 1950s Albert Hall. 1961 - Arts Theatre. The very first production of the [dramatic society] was "Tell me the Truth" by Leslie Howard in 1936 at All Saints Hall, Brisbane.
  • Now located in 210 Petrie Terrace, Brisbane, the first production of this venue was 'The Multi-Coloured Umbrella', staged on 16 September 1961. The building was damaged by fire in 1964, and the theatre was rebuilt, using architect John Dalton to design an upgraded version. The theatre reopened on 25 June 1965, with the revue 'Run, run, run' and continues to provided a range of popular productions for both adults and children and workshops that support the dramatic arts.
